India’s Asian Games 2026 Schedule Today, September 29: Gulveer Singh Eyes Hat-Trick of Medals on Final Day of Athletics

29 September 2026 (Navroze Bureau)  India faces a packed schedule at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya on September 29, with medal opportunities across athletics, shooting, boxing, cycling, archery, tennis and other sports. The final day of the athletics programme is expected to be particularly significant, with Gulveer Singh aiming to complete a hat-trick of medals.

Gulveer Singh in Men’s 5000m Final

Gulveer Singh will headline India’s athletics campaign in the men’s 5000m final at 4:45 PM IST.

The long-distance runner has already won two medals at the Games and will be looking to add a third to his tally. Avinash Sable will also compete in the same final, adding further Indian interest to the event.

Multiple Athletics Finals

India has several other medal opportunities on the final day of athletics.

Dev Kumar Meena and Kuldeep Kumar will compete in the men’s pole vault final at 2:50 PM, followed by the women’s high jump final featuring Pooja and Supriya Basavaraju at 3:35 PM.

The women’s hammer throw final, women’s 800m final and men’s 800m final will also feature Indian athletes.

Relay Teams in Action

India will also compete in three relay finals during the evening.

The mixed 4x100m relay is scheduled for 5:18 PM, followed by the women’s 4x400m relay at 5:35 PM and the men’s 4x400m relay at 5:47 PM.

Boxing Semifinals

India’s boxing contingent also has important bouts scheduled.

Parveen, Ankush Panghal and Narender are set to compete in their respective semifinals, with places in the finals and guaranteed medal opportunities at stake.

Indian shooters are also in action in the trap events.

The men’s trap team includes Kynan Chenai, Ahvar Rizvi and Shapath Bharadwaj, while Neeru, Manisha Keer and Aashima Ahlawat represent India in the women’s trap competition. Individual finals are scheduled later, subject to qualification.

Other Indian Athletes in Action

India’s schedule also includes archery, cycling, squash, tennis, volleyball, surfing and Kurash.

Among the day’s fixtures are men’s recurve archery elimination rounds, India’s women’s squash team against Iran, men’s volleyball against Qatar and men’s singles tennis involving Indian players.
