Iran Guards Official Says Chances Of Renewed War With U.S. Are ‘Low’

May 27 : 2026 (Navroze Bureau) : A senior official from Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has said the possibility of a renewed war between Iran and the United States remains “low,” even as tensions continue across the Middle East.

Mohammad Akbarzadeh, deputy political chief of the IRGC Navy, reportedly stated that Iran does not expect another major military confrontation because of what he described as the “enemy’s weakness,” while also warning that Iranian armed forces remain fully prepared for any escalation.

According to Iranian media reports, Akbarzadeh said Iranian forces were “lying in wait with full magazines,” signaling that Tehran remains on high military alert despite ongoing diplomatic discussions.

The comments come amid fragile ceasefire negotiations and continued indirect talks involving the U.S., Iran, and regional mediators following months of conflict and military exchanges in the Gulf region.

Recent tensions escalated after U.S. strikes in Iran’s southern Hormozgan province, which Washington described as defensive operations targeting missile sites and mine-laying activities near the Strait of Hormuz. Iran, however, condemned the attacks as violations of the ceasefire.

Despite the harsh rhetoric, diplomatic efforts reportedly continue in an attempt to stabilize the region and reopen the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes.

Iranian officials have also reiterated that certain issues, including Tehran’s enriched uranium stockpile, remain non-negotiable during talks with Washington.

The situation continues to draw global attention because any renewed conflict between Iran and the United States could significantly impact:

  • Global oil prices
  • International shipping
  • Regional security
  • Energy markets
  • Global trade routes

Analysts say both sides appear interested in avoiding a full-scale regional war, although mistrust and military tensions remain extremely high.

Meanwhile, international powers including China have urged all sides to continue negotiations and maintain the ceasefire process.

Observers believe the coming days will remain critical as diplomatic negotiations continue alongside military preparedness across the Gulf region.
