LATE-NIGHT NAKABANDI TO CONTINUE FOR VISIBLE POLICING, PROACTIVE PREVENTION AND SWIFT RESPONSE: SSP VARUN SHARMA

SAS Nagar, September 09:

In a major step towards strengthening preventive policing and ensuring the safety and security of citizens, SAS Nagar Police conducted an intensive ‘Operation Night Domination’ across the district under the direct supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varun Sharma, IPS.

As part of the operation, 19 nakas have been established under city sealing, which are being supervised by Gazetted Officers (GOs). Simultaneously, district sealing has been undertaken in the rural areas under the supervision of Circle Officers and SHOs, with special focus on monitoring the routes and entry-exit points connecting SAS Nagar with Chandigarh and Haryana.

SSP Varun Sharma said that effective night dominance and nakabandi are aimed at ensuring visible policing, proactive policing and swift response. He emphasised that sustained police presence and systematic checking at strategic points would help prevent criminal activities and enable the police to respond promptly to any untoward incident.

The SSP said that effective nakabandi would not only strengthen the policing mechanism but also inculcate a sense of security among citizens while creating deterrence among anti-social and criminal elements. He added that the late-night nakabandi would continue as a regular policing measure across the district.

During the operation, police teams conducted checking of vehicles and persons at strategic locations. Particular focus was laid on preventing drunken driving, hooliganism and other activities that disturb public peace. SSP Varun Sharma directed the teams to issue challans against persons found driving under the influence of alcohol and to take strict action against hooliganism and other violations in accordance with law.

Issuing a stern message to gangsters and organised criminal elements, SSP Varun Sharma said that the district police would follow a policy of hard policing and zero tolerance against criminal activities. He made it clear that there would be no soft corner towards gangsters or anyone involved in organised crime, and strict legal action would be taken against such elements.

The SSP further directed all field officers and police personnel to maintain a high level of alertness during night hours and ensure effective coordination between static nakas, mobile patrols, PCR teams and police stations for a prompt and coordinated response.

SSP Varun Sharma reiterated that Operation Night Domination and intensified late-night nakabandi will continue across SAS Nagar district as part of the police’s ongoing efforts to strengthen law and order, deter criminal activities and enhance public confidence in policing.
