Bassi Pathana/Fatehgarh Sahib, August 25:
Modern sports grounds constructed in the villages of Firozpur, Manpur and Lahori Kalan in the Bassi Pathana Assembly constituency will prove beneficial in encouraging rural youth to take up sports. These views were expressed by Bassi Pathana MLA Rupinder Singh Happy while formally inaugurating the modern sports stadium in Village Manpur.
The MLA said that the construction of sports grounds in villages would provide young people with an opportunity to channel their energy in a constructive direction and help keep them away from social evils such as drug abuse. He said that villages have a large pool of sporting talent that needs proper platforms and facilities. These sports grounds will play an important role in bringing hidden talent from rural areas to the forefront.
He further said that, besides children and youth, people from all age groups would be able to benefit from these sports grounds and move towards a healthier lifestyle.
MLA Happy said that the Punjab Government is committed to the welfare of the youth and is taking extensive measures to promote sports. He said, “The Mann Government is giving Punjab a new identity, where modern sports grounds are being developed village by village and young people are being provided opportunities to hone their skills.”
