Chandigarh 2 May 2025 : The Punjab government has called a special session of the Punjab Assembly on May 5 in light of the decision by the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) to provide additional water to Haryana. During the special session, it is likely that a proposal will be brought against the decision of the central government, Haryana government, and BBMB, under the leadership of the BJP. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann informed the legislators and ministers about this decision in a meeting on the water issue and said that during the assembly session, there will be discussions on taking concrete steps to protect Punjab’s water resources.
Aam Aadmi Party Punjab president and cabinet minister Aman Arora condemned the continuous betrayal and exploitation of the state’s natural resources by the central government. He directly challenged BJP leaders, including Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar, Union Minister of State Ravneet Bittu, Tarun Chugh, and Captain Amarinder Singh, to choose between the welfare of Punjab or their loyalty to the BJP.
