Punjab House Passes Resolution Against Centre Over Paper Leaks

4 Aug 2026 (Navroze Bureau) :   The Punjab Legislative Assembly has passed a resolution criticising the Central Government over alleged examination paper leaks, accusing it of failing to curb irregularities in national-level recruitment and entrance examinations.

The resolution was adopted during the Assembly session after a debate on the issue, with the state government expressing concern over the impact of repeated paper leaks on students and job aspirants.

Resolution Targets Examination Irregularities

The House stated that recurring paper leak incidents have undermined the credibility of competitive examinations and caused uncertainty among lakhs of candidates preparing for government jobs and higher education.

Members called for stronger measures to ensure transparent and fair examination processes.

Demand for Accountability

The resolution urged the Centre to take strict action against those responsible for examination fraud and strengthen systems to prevent future leaks.

The Assembly also stressed the need to restore public confidence in recruitment and admission processes.

Government’s Stand

Punjab government representatives said their administration has maintained a transparent recruitment system and asserted that no examination paper leaks had occurred during its tenure.

They argued that students deserve a fair and corruption-free examination environment.

Political Debate

The resolution sparked political debate in the House, with opposition members raising questions on various aspects of examination management, while the ruling side defended its position and criticised the Centre’s handling of national-level exams.
