5 Aug 2026 (Navroze Bureau) : Bus services across Punjab were disrupted as contractual employees of Punjab Roadways and PRTC went on strike, affecting daily commuters in several districts.
The protesting workers demanded the fulfilment of their long-pending demands, including issues related to regularisation of services, wages and employment conditions.

The strike led to the cancellation or delay of numerous bus services, causing inconvenience to passengers travelling for work, education and other essential purposes.
