Fazilka, September 24, 2026:
The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is making concerted efforts to engage youth in sports with the aim of keeping them away from drugs. As part of these efforts, sports stadiums and grounds are being developed in villages under the War Against Drugs campaign to combat drug abuse, while sports kits are also being distributed among young players in rural areas.
This was stated by Fazilka MLA Narinderpal Singh Sawna while distributing sports kits to young players during his visit to the villages of Satirwala and Khuikhera in the constituency.
Motivating the youth to take up sports, he said that participation in sports not only helps them remain physically fit but also makes them mentally stronger. He said the young players would play at their village grounds and go on to participate at the block, district and state levels. By bringing laurels to their parents and the region, they would also contribute towards making Punjab a prosperous and vibrant state once again.
He appealed to the village youth to stay away from drugs and make sports an integral part of their lives.
Addressing the villagers, he said that if there was any other requirement or need for the progress, prosperity and development of the village, they should feel free to bring it to his notice. Every need and problem would be addressed on priority, he assured. He said that the Punjab Government had no shortage of funds and that all development works were being carried out above party politics and without any discrimination.
Thereafter, the village youth, particularly the village panchayat, appreciated the initiative of MLA Sawna and thanked him for distributing the sports kits. They said that he was the first MLA who, by working tirelessly day and night and staying connected with the people of the constituency, was making efforts to resolve their problems.
