18 June 2025 : Mrunal Thakur will be sharing screen space with Ajay Devgn in Son Of Sardaar 2. The film shoot has already started and today the actress treated fans with a photo from the sets. The actress shared clips from the ongoing shoot, a sneak peek that’s left viewers buzzing with excitement. Fans reacted, saying eagerly waiting. In January this year, the release date was announced.
Taking to her Instagram handle, Mrunal shared a clapboard photo with Son of Sardaar 2 name. “SCENE 49 SHOT 5 TAKE 1 ACTION!” read the caption. In January, the film’s release date was announced and it will be released on July 25, 2025. It is the sequel to Son Of Sardaar which starred Sonakshi Sinha in the lead role. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared on X handle and wrote, “AJAY DEVGN: ‘SON OF SARDAAR 2’ RELEASE DATE LOCKED… 25 July 2025 is the release date of #SonOfSardaar2, the much-anticipated sequel to #SonOfSardaar [2012]. In August, 2024, Mrunal shared an exciting video marking the commencement of shooting for the highly anticipated film “Son of Sardaar 2,” starring Chunky Panday, and Deepak Dobriyal. The video begins with Ajay Devgn tying a handkerchief on his head and offering prayers at a Gurudwara, with the chant “Jo Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal” resonating in the background. Ajay’s son, Yug, also makes a brief appearance in the video. Following this, we see Mrunal, dressed in a vibrant pink kurta and yellow salwar, energetically beating a dhol and performing bhangra. The original “Son of Sardaar,” released in 2012, starred Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles of Billu and Jassi. Last year, news came in that Sanjay Dutt could not travelled to the UK following his visa rejection. Later, Danik Bhaskar claimed that Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn will shoot for the film in Punjab. The portal confirms that he will still have a significant role. Fans can look forward to seeing the beloved duo of Ajay and Sanjay back together on screen. The report also reveals that Son of Sardaar 2 will not be connected to its predecessor. The sequel will feature a role with elements reminiscent of the character Vasooli Bhai and will include a dramatic gang war between Bihari and Punjabi Dons. Additionally, Ravi Kishan’s original character, initially assigned to Vijay Raaz, has now been finalized for Sanjay Mishra. Dutt will be seen in the role of Don.
The film will be directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and comes nearly 12 years after the original.
