Bhagwant Mann Government Claims Drug Eradication with Society’s Full Support

Nangal, 21 July 2025  : Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government has launched a unique and extensive campaign named ‘War Against Drugs’ to root out drug abuse from Punjab. This campaign is receiving overwhelming support from every section of society. The efforts made by the government and the police department have gained strong momentum in eradicating drugs from the state.

This was stated by Dr. Sanjeev Gautam, Chairman of Guru Ravidas Ayurvedic University and District President of Aam Aadmi Party Rupnagar, during his visits to Pighwari, Khera Bagh, Dubeta, and Hambeval villages. He said that today, it has become a public demand to eliminate drugs from Punjab. Panchayats, sarpanches, councillors, social and religious organizations are actively supporting the mission.

He highlighted that with everyone’s cooperation, drug smugglers are being sent to jail and their illegally acquired properties are being seized. “Today, locks hang on the doors of drug peddlers,” he remarked. Village Defence Committees are playing a commendable role. Youth are returning to playgrounds, and the vibrancy in sports fields is returning.

He also noted that Outreach Clinics are helping innocent people trapped in drug addiction to return to normal life. “This is the real image of Punjab that the Bhagwant Mann government promised to deliver,” he added.

Dr. Gautam pledged that drugs will be eradicated from every village, no drug smuggler will be granted bail, and people are encouraged to report such activities to the government helpline to fulfill their duty towards society. He also administered anti-drug pledges in villages including Pighwari, Khera Bagh, Dubeta, and Hambeval.

Also present on the occasion were Inspector Simranjeet Singh, anti-drug campaign coordinator Hitesh Sharma Deepu, village sarpanches, panches, and a large number of local residents.
