Deputy Commissioner Inspects Saboana Drain, Orders Immediate Action for Water Drainage

Fazilka, 4 Aug 2025 : Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu visited the Saboana Drain last night to inspect the work being done to close the breach in the drain. She stated that due to heavy rainfall on August 1, there was a sudden surge of water in the drain, which caused a breach. The repair work to close the breach has been initiated on a war footing.

On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner listened to the grievances of local residents and directed the drainage department officials to close the breach as soon as possible and ensure proper water drainage.

She further said that all concerned department officials have been instructed to take swift action wherever sudden heavy rainfall has caused waterlogging and to provide immediate relief to the affected residents. She assured that the administration is closely monitoring all water drainage efforts and that the problem of water accumulation will be resolved soon.

Calling the situation a natural calamity, she mentioned that the issue arose due to an unusually high amount of rain in a short span of time, something that had not occurred before. Nevertheless, the administration is making continuous efforts to accelerate drainage work.

SDM Veerpal Kaur was also present during the visit.
