Minister Harjot Singh Bains orders Algara bridge side open for two-wheelers

Nangal, 20 Aug 2025 : During the ongoing construction work on the Algara bridge, a special meeting was held today at Algara with the Coordination Committee of the local residents, village dignitaries, and sarpanches, to ensure smooth connectivity among dozens of villages in the area.

In this meeting, local residents suggested that the bridge should not be completely demolished. They pointed out that during the rainy season, when heavy rainfall occurs in Himachal Pradesh, the river swells, making it difficult to maintain the temporary road. Therefore, it was suggested that one side of the Algara bridge should remain open for two-wheelers, while work should first begin by dismantling the other side.

Residents also suggested that once the heavy monsoon season is over and rainfall and water levels in the river decrease significantly, a temporary road should be built along the river. At that time, the other side of the bridge can be dismantled, while work on the first side continues. This way, two-wheeler access from the other side would continue, ensuring that working professionals, students, and the general public do not face hardships in commuting.

Later, in the follow-up meeting of the Coordination Committee of the area, Dr. Sanjeev Gautam, Chairman of Shri Guru Ravidas Ayurvedic University, especially attended and sought suggestions from all sarpanches and residents on the matter, which he then discussed with the officials.

When the issue was unanimously approved by all at the joint meeting held in Algara village, Dr. Gautam brought these suggestions to the attention of Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains. Mr. Bains stated that addressing the issues and difficulties of the people of this area is a priority for the government. He instructed the officials that only one side of the Algara bridge should be dismantled so that traffic continues on the other side, and until the temporary road is constructed, one side of the bridge should remain functional.

Following this, village residents expressed special thanks to Mr. Harjot Singh Bains, acknowledging his efforts due to which the bridge work had begun. They appreciated that the Cabinet Minister truly understands and recognizes the hardships and difficulties of the people in the region.

On this occasion, Bobby Sahijowal, Jaspreet Singh, Nitin Puri, Balwant Mander, Gurdial Singh (Sarpanch), Dilbagh (Sarpanch), Gurwinder Rinku (Sarpanch), Ashok Sahijowal, Billa Mehalwa, Daljit Hajipur, and other dignitaries were present.

Summary :
Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains instructed authorities to keep one side of the Algara bridge open for two-wheelers, ensuring smoother traffic flow and public convenience.
