Ludhiana 22 Sep 2025: Challans are continuously being issued against drivers caught driving under the influence of alcohol in the city. Last week alone, the traffic police caught 150 such drivers. At these checkpoints, drivers are stopped and subjected to alcohol testing with an alcometer. If the alcohol level is found to be more than 30 mg, a challan is issued under drunken driving, with a fine of ₹5,000, and the driver’s license is suspended for three months.
Traffic ACP Jatin Bansal said that driving after consuming alcohol is extremely dangerous. He appealed to the public to avoid drinking while driving. He also stated that the traffic police will continue strict action against drunken driving in the future as well.
Summary : Authorities have intensified action against drunk driving, announcing zero tolerance. Offenders will face strict penalties, ensuring road safety and discouraging reckless behavior on public roads.
