It is believed that the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections in Punjab are likely to be held at the end of the second week of December. The Punjab State Election Commission may announce the elections anytime after November 25. Important sources reveal that the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections may be held on December 14. That day is also a Sunday holiday. The Rural Development and Panchayats Department has already filed an affidavit in the Punjab and Haryana High Court stating that these elections will be conducted by December 5.

The announcement of these elections is expected to come only after the conclusion of events dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The Rural Development and Panchayats Department has completed the formation of the zones for the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections, and the reservation for these zones has also been finalized. District-level government notifications regarding the zones and their reservation, based on proposals prepared by the Deputy Commissioners, are being issued continuously.

In response to a petition filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Punjab government had earlier submitted an affidavit stating that the Samiti and Zila Parishad elections would be conducted by May 31. After that, the process of reconstituting the blocks began. The department sought three months from the High Court and committed to holding the elections by October 5. During this period, Punjab was hit by floods, and considering this situation, the department again submitted an affidavit to the High Court stating that the elections would be held by December 5.
