Eyewitnesses and local residents said they suspected from the very beginning that the missing girl was inside the house of the accused, Happy, but he repeatedly denied it.
Eyewitnesses said that when people showed Happy the CCTV footage—where the girl was seen walking towards his house—he still refused to open the door. His behaviour increased people’s suspicion even more.
Local residents said that during this time, the police also reached the spot and checked the house, but the girl was not found at that moment. Police told the locals that further action would be taken in the morning. Later, when the locals themselves again insisted and searched the accused’s house, they opened the bathroom door and found the girl’s body inside. The horrifying sight created panic across the entire area.
