Batala, August 3:
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Mehtab Singh stated that, following the directions of Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav and under the supervision of Harmanbir Singh Gill, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Border Range, Amritsar, Batala Police launched Operation Prahar 4.0, a special drive against gangsters, drug traffickers, illegal weapons, and other criminal activities.
He said that during the operation, the district police formed special teams to conduct raids at the hideouts of suspected persons, wanted criminals, gangsters, and their associates. Search operations were also carried out in sensitive areas after establishing security cordons.
As part of the operation, Batala Police:
- Arrested 102 accused persons.
- Seized 56 grams of heroin.
- Recovered 120 tablets/pills.
- Recovered 150 grams of gold.
- Seized one motorcycle.
- Took 64 preventive actions.
- Arrested five proclaimed offenders (POs).
The SSP further informed that Operation Prahar 4.0 involved the deployment of 4 Superintendents of Police (SPs), 8 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 355 Non-Gazetted Officers (NGOs), and 435 Executive Police Officers (EPOs).
Dr. Mehtab Singh reiterated that Batala Police is following a zero-tolerance policy against organized crime, gangsterism, and drug trafficking. He added that such special enforcement drives will continue in the future to further strengthen public safety and maintain law and order.
Batala Police also appealed to the public to immediately report any suspicious persons or criminal activities to the nearest police station or through the police helpline. The identity of the informant, he assured, will be kept strictly confidential.
