4 Aug 2026 (Navroze Bureau) : Punjab’s teenage badminton star Tanvi Sharma has scripted history by becoming the youngest-ever champion at the BWF Taipei Open Super 300, winning her maiden World Tour title at just 17 years of age. Her remarkable triumph marks a major milestone for Indian badminton and establishes her as one of the country’s brightest young talents.
Historic Victory in Taipei
Tanvi defeated Vietnam’s Nguyen Thuy Linh in the women’s singles final with a commanding 21-16, 21-16 victory to clinch the title. She remained in impressive form throughout the tournament, dropping only one game on her way to the championship.
Youngest Champion in Tournament History
With the victory, the Hoshiarpur-born shuttler became the youngest player ever to win the Taipei Open title across all categories, breaking the tournament’s previous age record.
