Fatehgarh Sahib, August 24:
In accordance with the directions of the Election Commission of India and the guidelines issued by the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls is underway to make voter lists more accurate, transparent and up to date. District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sona Thind has appealed to all eligible citizens of the district to verify their voter details and file claims or objections, wherever necessary.
She said that from August 13 to September 12, 2026, eligible citizens can file claims and objections for inclusion of their names in the electoral rolls, deletion of names, or correction of existing details. She urged voters to personally verify their voting information and take the necessary action within the stipulated period in case of any discrepancy.
She further informed that the claims and objections received will be scrutinized and disposed of by October 8, 2026, while the final electoral roll will be published on October 12, 2026.
The District Election Officer said that Form-6 can be used for registration of a new voter, Form-7 for deletion of a name from the electoral roll, Form-6A for registration of an overseas Indian (NRI) voter, and Form-8 for correction of details, change of residence, modification of the Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC), or marking a voter as a person with disability.
She said that citizens who are 18 years of age or above, or who will attain the age of 18 years on or before October 1, 2026, can apply for new registration through Form-6. In addition, eligible NRI citizens can apply through Form-6A to have their names included in the electoral roll of the constituency mentioned in their passport.
She informed that voters can submit their applications at the office of the concerned ERO/AERO, by contacting their Booth Level Officer (BLO), or online through the Election Commission’s portal voters.eci.gov.in and the ECINet App.
She said that all necessary assistance is being provided at every level to ensure that the electoral process remains transparent, smooth and well-organized.
