As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026, a special cleanliness drive was carried out in various villages of the district to clean common areas, including schools, community halls, panchayat buildings, community centres, water supply schemes, solid waste management sites, ponds, and other public places. This information was provided by Executive Engineer Mr. Vishal Puri.
Mr. Vishal Puri said that local residents actively participated in the cleanliness campaign. Schoolchildren were educated about segregating household waste into four different categories.
He further informed that cleanliness activities were carried out at various locations. These included cleaning the community centre in village Noorpura of Block Amloh, the area around the pond in village Kahanpur, the water supply scheme and common areas in village Khalspur of Block Bassi Pathana, and clearing garbage heaps in village Mehdoodan.
Similarly, in village Chanalon of Block Sirhind, cleanliness work was carried out around the solid waste management site and at the school, where awareness messages were also given to children. In a village of Block Khamanon, cleanliness activities were undertaken at religious places.
In village Balhara of Block Khera, sites where garbage had accumulated were cleaned.
The activities were carried out with the support of the Social Staff of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department, including Harpreet Kaur, Baljinder Kaur, Daljit Kaur, Dalwara Singh, Pradeep Kumar, Amit Kumar, and Mandeep Singh, Block Resource Coordinator.
During the campaign, residents of the villages were also administered the Swachhata Pledge to keep their surroundings clean. The general public was educated about segregating household waste at the source and maintaining cleanliness in their communities.
