Faridkot, September 25:
As per the directions of Civil Surgeon Faridkot Dr. Ramandeep Singla, and under the leadership of Dr. Arshdeep Singh Brar, SMO In-charge, Jail Hospital Faridkot, and Dr. Sarvdeep Singh Romana, District AIDS Control Officer, an HIV testing camp was organized at Modern Central Jail, Faridkot.
During the camp, the ICTC teams conducted HIV testing of inmates at the jail. A total of 429 individuals were tested for HIV during the camp.
Dr. Arshdeep Singh Brar, Senior Medical Officer In-charge, Jail Hospital Faridkot; Mr. Iqbal Singh Dhillon, Superintendent, Faridkot Jail; Dr. Chander Bhan Sharma, Medical Officer, Jail Hospital Faridkot; Mr. Rajdeep Singh Brar, Additional Superintendent, Faridkot Jail; Ms. Rajwinder Kaur, Nursing Sister In-charge, Jail Hospital Faridkot; Mr. Gaurav Chawla, Pharmacy Officer; Ms. Gagandeep Kaur, Staff Nurse; Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, Staff Nurse; and Ms. Gagandeep Kaur, Project Coordinator, LART, played an important role in ensuring the smooth conduct of the camp.
On the occasion, teams from the Health Department sensitized the inmates about HIV prevention, the causes of its transmission, precautions and the importance of timely testing. People were also urged to avoid misconceptions and discrimination related to HIV and to get themselves tested at government health institutions whenever required.
The ICTC teams of the Health Department emphasized the need to continue such awareness and testing activities regularly for the prevention and early detection of HIV.
