Attari, January 2, 2025 : On the passing of the country’s first Sikh Prime Minister and economist Dr. Manmohan Singh, the central government announced seven days of national mourning. During the India-Pakistan border retreat ceremony at the Attari-Wagah border, tourists who had come to witness the event asked BSF soldiers about the lowering of the flag. The BSF soldiers explained that the national flag had been lowered after the death of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Tourists in the viewing gallery were seen taking selfies with the lowered flag, capturing a memorable moment symbolizing the country’s pride.

Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister, was born in 1932 in the village of Gah in Chakwal province, Pakistan. At the age of 15, during the partition of 1947, his family migrated to India.
