Moga, May 5 : Due to the well-organized arrangements for the purchase of wheat in the district, the wheat procurement season in the district’s markets is nearing completion. Initially, the purchase of wheat was carried out at a fast pace, and now the administration is fully focusing on the lifting process. Efforts are ongoing to ensure that the lifting continues at full speed. By the evening of the previous day, a total of 409,205 metric tons of wheat had been lifted, which is more than 60% of the total. In the coming days, this process will be further accelerated.
While making this statement, Additional Deputy Commissioner Moga, Mrs. Charumita, explained that by the evening of the previous day, out of the 702,185 metric tons of wheat that arrived in the markets, different procurement agencies and private traders had purchased 700,714 metric tons of wheat, accounting for 99.80% of the total wheat received in the markets. The procurement agencies have also deposited ₹1615.33 crores into the farmers’ bank accounts as payment for the purchased wheat.
She further mentioned that out of the total wheat procured in the markets, 218,121 metric tons were purchased by Pungrain, 192,211 metric tons by Markfed, 163,655 metric tons by Punsup, 118,522 metric tons by Warehouses, and 8,205 metric tons by private traders.
