Stock Markets Rally as India-Pakistan Ceasefire Eases Geopolitical Tensions

May 12, 2025 : After the announcement of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, there was a significant surge in the Sensex and Nifty during Monday’s early trading.

The trading began on a positive note, and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex surged by 1,793.73 points, reaching 81,248.20.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty rose by 553.25 points to reach 24,561.25. Continuing the upward trend, the BSE Sensex increased by 1,949.63 points, reaching 81,398.91, while the Nifty climbed 598.90 points to 24,606.90.

Among the 30 companies listed on the Sensex, Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, Reliance Industries, Power Grid, and NTPC shares saw profits, while Sun Pharma’s shares recorded a 5% decline.

In Asian markets, South Korea’s KOSPI, the SSE Composite, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng remained positive, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 saw a slight dip. On Friday, the American market experienced a sharp fall. The BSE benchmark gauge, which tracks 30 shares, fell by 880.34 points or 1.10% to settle at 79,454.47, while the Nifty dropped by 265.80 points or 1.10%, reaching 24,008.
