Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma Spotted at Airport Moments Before Test Retirement Announcement

12 May 2025 : Power couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli were spotted at the Mumbai airport on Monday morning just minutes before the cricketer stunned fans by announcing his retirement from Test cricket.

The duo was captured by paparazzi at the airport as they flew out of Mumbai. Despite appearing to be in a hurry, Anushka and Virat took a brief moment to smile and pose for photographers.

A video shared by celebrity photographer Viral Bhayani shows the couple stepping out of their car. Anushka was seen handing over her ID to Virat and assisting with their luggage. Dressed for comfort and style, Virat sported a beige linen shirt paired with matching pants, while Anushka looked chic in an oversized pink and blue striped shirt teamed with baggy jeans.

Shortly after their appearance, Virat took to Instagram to announce his retirement from the longest format of the game, bringing a close to a 14-year Test career.

“It’s been 14 years since I first wore the baggy blue in Test cricket. Honestly, I never imagined the journey this format would take me on. It’s tested me, shaped me, and taught me lessons I’ll carry for life. There’s something deeply personal about playing in whites. The quiet grind, the long days, the small moments that no one sees but that stay with you forever,” he wrote.

“I have given it everything I had, and it has given me back so much more than I could have hoped for… I will always look back at my Test career with a smile,” Virat added.

Meanwhile, Anushka, who has taken a break from Bollywood, continues to stay low-key on the film front. She was last seen in the 2018 film “Zero” alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. Her upcoming sports biopic, “Chakda ‘Xpress,” based on cricketer Jhulan Goswami, is already complete but awaiting a release date.

Summary: Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma appeared at Mumbai airport shortly before Kohli announced his sudden retirement from Test cricket, marking the end of an era.
