First COVID-19 Death Reported in Chandigarh Amid New Surge

28 May 2025 : A case of the first death due to COVID has emerged in Chandigarh. According to the information, Rajkumar, who had come from Ludhiana, was admitted to Sector 32 Hospital and was in critical condition. Now, reports have confirmed his death. Rajkumar, who was undergoing treatment after coming from Ludhiana, was admitted to the isolation ward three days ago. This is the first COVID-related death in Chandigarh with COVID-25. The patient passed away this morning in Sector 32 Hospital.

A few days ago, the patient was referred from Ludhiana to Sector 32 Hospital. As there was no improvement in his health, the doctors at the hospital conducted a COVID test, which confirmed that he was positive. After the positive test result, he was isolated.

The patient was a resident of Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh and was working in Ludhiana. Currently, in view of COVID-25, Sector 32 Hospital has set up an isolation ward with 10 to 12 beds.

Summary: Chandigarh records its first COVID-19 death this wave; a 40-year-old patient from UP died despite treatment, prompting increased caution and contact tracing.
