Fazilka, August 5
Mrs. Khushboo Sawna, wife of Fazilka MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna, flagged off a pilgrimage bus from the villages of Siyana and Jandwala Kharta under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme for devotees visiting various religious places.
Mrs. Sawna said that under the scheme, the Punjab Government provides free transportation, accommodation, and meals for all pilgrims to ensure they can undertake the journey without any inconvenience.
She added that many elderly devotees were previously unable to visit pilgrimage sites due to age and other constraints. The primary objective of the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme is to provide safe, convenient, and free pilgrimage opportunities to senior citizens and religious devotees.
She further stated that the scheme was launched by the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, enabling devotees to visit various religious destinations. According to her, the pilgrims have shown great enthusiasm and happiness, and they have widely appreciated the government’s initiative for giving them the opportunity to undertake these sacred journeys.
Those present on the occasion included Surinder Beniwal, Block President; Swaran Singh, Sarpanch and Block President of Jandwala Kharta; Gurveer Babli Rewaria; Harish Thakur, Chairman of the Rajput Samaj; and Soma, Municipal Councillor (MC).
