Teachers Encouraged to Play a Key Role in Building a Drug-Free and Healthy Society

Tarn Taran, August 4:

To safeguard the younger generation from the menace of drug abuse and promote the creation of a healthy, drug-free society, a seminar for teachers on the theme “War Against Drugs” was organized today at the Government DIET, Kairon, under the guidance of Rajeev Chhabra, District Education Officer (Secondary Education), Tarn Taran.

Addressing the gathering, Rajinder Kaur, Deputy District Education Officer (Secondary Education), Tarn Taran, said that the future of society rests in the hands of the youth. She emphasized that an ideal society can only be built through the positive thinking, hard work, and strong values of young people.

She urged teachers to actively motivate students to stay away from drugs, stating that addiction destroys not only individuals but also families and society as a whole. She appealed to educators to spread awareness against drug abuse within their communities and support the administration in combating the growing problem of substance addiction.

Mangat Singh, Principal of DIET Kairon, said that such seminars help instill self-confidence and a spirit of patriotism. He also encouraged teachers to pay greater attention to students’ participation in sports and academics, which play an important role in their overall development.

The training session was conducted by a resource person from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute, Mohali, who provided teachers with guidance on addressing the issue of drug abuse among students.

It is noteworthy that under the “War Against Drugs” campaign, one-day seminars for every teacher in the district will be organized at Government DIET Kairon from August 3 to August 29.

The seminar was also attended by Guidance Counsellor Sukhbir Singh Kang, Mandeep Singh (In-charge, War Against Drugs Campaign), Raj Singh (Local Resource Person), Arun Sharma (Local Resource Person), Surjit Verma, Kiran Singh (Resource Person), Tehreen Basra (Resource Person), Simranjit Singh (Resource Person), and Kabirpal Singh (Resource Person), among others.
