Chandigarh 13 May 2025 : The government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is continuously striving to provide a safe environment for women in the state. As part of this initiative, Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that by March 31, 2025, approximately 21,397 needy women had received free emergency and non-emergency services through One-Stop Centers.
Providing further details, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that to prevent violence against women, Sakhi One-Stop Centers have been set up in each district at both private and public places. These centers provide free services under one roof during both emergency and non-emergency situations, including medical aid, legal assistance, police-related services, counseling, and safe shelter with food for women facing any kind of violence.
Dr. Baljit Kaur emphasized that the Punjab government is constantly working to ensure a safe environment for the state’s women, so that they can be brought into the mainstream of society. She stressed that the development of any society depends on the progress and welfare of its women, and therefore providing a safe and supportive atmosphere for them is a top priority of the government.
